When I learned that eye doctors are able to fix eye problems by simply inserting a slender concave disk into the eye, I was astonished beyond belief. Otherwise called a contact lens, this disc has completely altered methods of correcting eye problems. At one time people constantly fretted about how they looked in glasses that had coke-bottle lenses. However, now the only concern they have is what style of contact lens will match their needs the best.

Two varieties of lens are available. RGP or better known as Rigid Gas Permeable lenses and soft lenses. Soft lens are matched well to their name. They are soft and very easy on the eye that wear them due to the fact they are mostly made of moisture. But due to how soft they are, they do not last very long. They last a maximum of one year if treated correctly.

The RGP lenses are made of much less water and as a result end up being much harder. These refine your sight much better than soft lens and do not collect dirt nearly as badly as the soft ones do.

Each lens is created for a specific problem of each individual eye. It would be a bad idea to go into a store and request lenses without the appropriate diagnosis from a professional optometrist.

Another type of contact lens is known as the Toric lens. These lens are designed with people suffering from astigmatism in mind. Astigmatism is basically a defect in the eye that makes objects near and far seem blurry.

Proclear lenses are a second kind of lens that are made to relieve dry eyes. These cutting-edge lenses mix human cell components that occur naturally with scientific advances in lenses. Proclear lenses are able to hold onto their own water and do not have to use the eyes' water. These features make the lenses last longer, while lowering the risk of more harm to the eyes as well.

If you are suffering from bad eye site, go see a professional. You eyes may end up becoming even worse if you wear lens without a doctor's correct diagnosis.
