Something that generally seems to be unique to Thai food is it's adaptability. Some of this adaptability comes from the food grown in the country and the numerous growing seasons. You'll find 2 separate growing seasons (occasionally three) in Thailand so the specific ingredients in several dishes is dependent upon what the freshest available food is.
Just like any other cuisine, Thai food has several staples that you will always need to have accessible if you're planning to prepare a Thai dish. Items which are considered staples will be the core of Thai food preparation. Additional ingredients from the recipe are occasionally adjusted according to flavor. Limes, rice chili pepper, coconuts, lemongrass, coriander, galangal and garlic are all regarded as Thai food staples.

Typically, you'll eat a couple of spoons of the soup any time you change back and forth in between the other elements of the meal. You need to remember this if you are ordering at a Thai restaurant. If you prefer to eat your soup beforehand, you will need to tell them that.
A lot of people are shocked if they find out that Thai food is not normally served with chopsticks. It's served with forks. Any time setting the table, knives are generally not included with all the silverware. It is because the food is always sliced up so little before it's cooked so a knife is never really needed.
