If you are drowning in a pile of debt, you'd like relief and you don't care how you go about getting it. An option is bankruptcy or maybe a debt counselor. These options cost money though, money that you may not have. What you can do is learn how to deal with debt on your own if your in the situation. There are many options out there and you may have already tried many of them with no success.

Often people use a program that has them list their debts by rate of interest. You start by making a list with the debt with the highest interest rate first then by descending order.. Although some people succeed using this method, many do not as they don't see enough progress. They become discouraged and give up so the situation never improves.

Eliminating debt requires that you stay both motivated and focused. A better way to keep focused is to use the snowball affect of paying off debt, its the growing progress getting better as time goes on. This way is differnt because you are listing the debt by there amounts not interest rate. What you are going to do is pay just the miniimum on all except the smallest debt owned. Any extra money you can come up with will go toward the smallest debt. Next, once this debt is paid off you move on to the next one.

Start by adding the money you applied to the first debt, to the second debt on the list and keep doing it. What this going to do is allow you to pay off this 2nd debt at a faster rate. Whenever you come across some extra money, add it to this payment until the second debt is paid off. When this debt is paid move on to the third. Use this method as you work your way through your list and you will get better results than you can imagine.

So what happens is when debt is paid off this way, it gives you accomplishment and this is why so so many are successful with this. You feel motivated to keep moving forward. It's like losing weight. If you see no weight loss when you get on a scale, you drown yourself in ice cream. But you stay motivated when you see the loss of a few ponds on the scales.

Constant progress shows you that your plan's working and that is precisely what it takes when you are looking to get out of debt. Try it today and see if this works for you. Once you pay off that first bill and start making progress on the second, you'll see how much faster the plan moves forward. This plan works and its a great feeling too.
